During construction, you can expect:
Work happening in both cities at the same time.
Crews working mostly during the daytime, Monday through Friday.
Shoulder and lane closures as needed.
Flaggers helping direct traffic as needed.
Delays and construction noise.
Over 1,000 families and nearly 2,900 children in Polk County experienced a brighter Christmas thanks to the overwhelming success of the 2024 Adopt-a-Family Christmas project. The distribution day, held at the Polk County Fair and Events Center on December 18, was made possible by the tireless efforts of over 200 community and agency volunteers.

We are pleased to announce that Buena Vista Boat Launch will be officially open on Saturday, November 18, 2023. We are thankful to the community for the support and patience during this project. The Polk County Board of Commissioners are very proud to share the successes of the Dallas Youth Garden. The Board has supported this program since its inception in 2013 with supplemental funding and leadership. Through paid internships for Dallas Area High School Students, the Youth Garden has donated over 38,000 pounds of produce to multiple food programs to help feed the hungry in our community.

Buena Vista Park & Boat Launch is CLOSED due to construction with no option to put in or pull out any motorized or non-motorized watercrafts. The final stages of construction are almost complete and we anticipate for the park to be open on Wednesday November 15, 2023. We appreciate everyone's patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
Polk County entered into an agreement with Willamette Valley Fiber powered by MINET to significantly expand rural broadband access for the county. Through the public partnership with Willamette Valley Fiber and Polk County, we are pleased to announce that one of two rural expansion projects have been completed.
In 2020 Polk County entered into an agreement with Alyrica Networks to significantly expand rural broadband access for the county. Through the public partnership with Alyrica Networks and Polk County, we are pleased to announce that the first 2 of 6 new wireless internet towers have been completed.

Polk County is finalizing the acquisition of the vacant Wells Fargo building at 636 Main Street in Dallas Oregon. The intent to purchase this building, versus building a new facility is a cost saving measure to acquire much needed space to house essential behavioral health services staff. This location also proved to be an excellent addition for these staff to stay near their primary services offered in the Academy Building only a block away.
