Treatment & Polygraph Requirements
Treatment Requirements:
Community Corrections utilizes treatment providers approved by the local Sex Offender Supervision Network (SOSN) and by the department Director. Approved treatment providers must be a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and licensed and endorsed by the Oregon Licensing Board for Sex Offender Therapy.
The treatment provider and the parole/probation officer are in constant contact to ensure the offender is being held accountable and to identify treatment progression or concerns.
Polygraphs:
The use of polygraph examinations are a mandatory part of offenders supervision and are recognized by the parole/probation officer and treatment provider as an effective tool in helping to manage sexual offenders in a community based program.
Community Corrections utilizes polygraph examiners approved by the local Sex Offender Supervision Network (SOSN) and by the department Director. All polygraph examiners utilized by the department are required to be licensed as a ‘General Examiner’ through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) and be certified by examination through the American Polygraph Association in the field of post-conviction sexual offender testing (PCSOT).
The polygraph examiner provides all testing results to the parole/probation officer and treatment provider. In the event an offender fails a polygraph exam, the offender is required to complete an addendum clarifying the failed content of the exam and a follow-up polygraph exam may be required.
